Mayor Gray to Announce and Swear in Members of Age-Friendly DC Task Force

WHAT/WHO:  Mayor Vincent C. Gray will announce and swear in the new members of the Age-Friendly DC Task Force. He will be accompanied by Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Beatriz “BB” Otero and The George Washington University President Steve Knapp, co-chairs of the task force.

BACKGROUND:  In October 2012, the Mayor announced the DC Age Friendly City vision as part of the DC Office on Aging’s Fiscal Year 2013-Fiscal year 2017 New Community Living Strategic Plan. The plan provides a comprehensive framework for the agency to address various issues affecting the city’s older adults, persons with disabilities and caregivers. In addition, the Mayor announced that a task force would be convened to develop a plan to make the District more age-friendly.
